The Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to delivering comprehensive, cutting-edge clinical services, educating medical students, residents, and observers, and engaging in clinical and translational research. Our pediatric specialties service is dedicated to providing a full spectrum of care, including emergency, primary, secondary, advanced, tertiary, and long-term services, with over 40 pediatric medical and surgical specialties.

Key Objectives of the Role:

We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Pediatric Otolaryngologist. The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is looking for a board-eligible or board-certified, fellowship-trained Pediatric Otolaryngologist to join our expanding academic practice. The compensation and academic rank will be competitive and based on experience. This role involves providing clinical expertise in the surgical management of various Otolaryngology conditions. The physician will also contribute to the education and training of Otolaryngology residents, medical students, and observers. A commitment to excellence in research within their clinical focus is essential. The Department encourages research and professional development that is vital to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program and the faculty's professional growth.

Expansion of Pediatric Services:

There is significant momentum towards enhancing pediatric healthcare in the region. A state-of-the-art ambulatory facility for pediatric outpatient services has been established, featuring:
72 examination rooms organized in clinical pods to facilitate a multidisciplinary care approach. Clinical pods consisting of 12 examination rooms, one treatment room, and support space for a centralized clinical team. Dedicated pediatric imaging, operating rooms, and procedure rooms. Offices for pediatric faculty. An attached parking structure with ample spaces for convenience. A new, comprehensive Pediatric Hospital has been opened, designed to cater to the unique healthcare needs of children and to provide advanced, coordinated care.

Responsibilities:

Teaching: The faculty member will engage in the education of residents, medical students, and other learners, including delivering Continuing Medical Education (CME) lectures.

Research: The faculty member is expected to establish a reputation for excellence in clinical and/or translational research, with a focus on publishing in peer-reviewed journals and securing external funding. Collaborating across disciplines to enhance research and clinical initiatives is encouraged, along with mentoring residents and students in their research endeavors.

Service: The faculty member will participate in departmental, health system, and university committees as necessary. Engagement in professional activities within their field, such as serving as a reviewer or committee member, is encouraged.

Clinical Practice: This role emphasizes clinical excellence as a faculty physician. The faculty member will provide high-quality care and treatment to patients within the specialty. They will also be responsible for growing their clinical practice and referral network while participating in multidisciplinary clinical efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Board certified or eligible in Otolaryngology Fellowship trained Licensed to practice medicine in Virginia upon hiring Proven experience in fostering a diverse environment or a commitment to doing so as a faculty member Preferred Qualifications:
