Position Summary

The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for:

  • Servicing, testing, and maintaining low-voltage security systems, including Access Control, Video/CCTV, IP Cameras, Fiber, Security, and Voice/Data Systems.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctioning systems using appropriate test equipment and tools.
  • Installing and mounting electronic devices, panels, sensors, and components as required.
  • Utilizing an Electronic (FLUKE) multi-meter to identify circuit issues in networking or other field wiring.
  • Understanding class 2 cabling standards as per NFPA 72, BICSI, and other relevant codes.
  • Analyzing blueprints and schematics to ensure efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
  • Inspecting electrical/security systems to evaluate conditions and recommend necessary repairs.
  • Providing daily updates on work orders to scheduling coordinators and clients.
  • Communicating effectively with customers regarding work status before and after service completion.
  • Demonstrating urgency in completing assigned tasks.
  • Reviewing work orders and installation manuals to determine material requirements and procedures.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in installing voice and data systems.
  • Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards is advantageous.
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
  • Adherence to OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and knowledge of color codes.
  • A solid understanding of common low-voltage technologies.
