Job Responsibilities:

KEY FUNCTIONS
The associate will be accountable for the following responsibilities, along with any additional tasks as assigned:

  • Verify the precision and suitability of all prescriptions processed by conducting Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, in accordance with state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Drive business growth and prescription volume through the promotion of clinical initiatives, including suitable immunization and, when applicable, Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and other ongoing programs.
  • Align performance goals with the seven key metrics of the department that are quantifiable for effectiveness and efficiency within your control. Collaborate with the pharmacy manager to manage inventory by monitoring weekly sales and ordering necessary pharmaceutical supplies to meet customer needs and optimize profits.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing medical-related inquiries and providing healthcare guidance.
  • Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians and support staff during your shift. Assist the Pharmacy Manager in training, mentoring, and managing pharmacy personnel.
  • Assume overall management of the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Foster open communication with operations and pharmacy management to ensure the continued success of our pharmacy.
  • Maintain the security of the Pharmacy department.
  • Adhere to all federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and inquiries to build trust and loyalty.
  • Engage with healthcare providers and utilize reference materials to gather information on customers and prescriptions, resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Assist in maintaining the Pharmacy department's cleanliness and organization. Support the manager in the ongoing training and development of department staff to enhance performance, ensure continuous improvement, reduce turnover, and manage labor costs.
  • Prioritize tasks within the Pharmacy Department and ensure timely completion of all responsibilities, including cycle counts, inventory management, and customer will-calls.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

This role includes supervising pharmacy technicians and executing supervisory responsibilities in line with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; evaluating associate performance; and addressing complaints.


QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
To succeed in this position, the associate must effectively perform each essential duty.

The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy, along with Immunization Certification from an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
