Job Responsibilities:

The pharmacist is accountable for the following essential duties, along with any additional responsibilities as assigned:

  • Ensure the precision and suitability of all prescriptions by conducting thorough Drug Utilization Reviews and Final Quality Assurance, adhering to state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Drive business growth and prescription volume through the promotion of clinical initiatives, including immunization services and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs as they become available.
  • Align performance goals with the seven key department metrics that measure effectiveness and efficiency within your control.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy manager to manage inventory by monitoring weekly sales and ordering pharmaceutical stock to meet customer needs while maximizing profitability.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing medical inquiries and providing healthcare guidance.
  • Oversee the activities of Pharmacy Technicians and support staff during your shift, assisting the Pharmacy Manager in training, coaching, and managing pharmacy associates.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities for the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with operations and pharmacy management to ensure the success of our pharmacy.
  • Ensure the security of the Pharmacy department is maintained at all times.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and inquiries to foster trust and loyalty.
  • Engage with healthcare providers and utilize reference materials to gather information regarding customers and prescriptions, resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized Pharmacy department.
  • Support the ongoing training and development of department personnel to enhance performance, promote continuous growth, reduce turnover, and manage labor costs effectively.
  • Prioritize tasks within the Pharmacy Department and ensure timely completion of all responsibilities, including cycle counts, inventory management, and customer will-calls.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role includes supervising pharmacy technicians and executing supervisory duties in accordance with Weis Markets policies and relevant laws. Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; evaluating associate performance; and addressing complaints.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this position, the associate must effectively perform each essential duty. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy.
  • Immunization Certification from an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
