Process Safety Specialist

Job Summary:

The Process Safety Engineer will support the plant in developing and implementing regulatory, Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP), and industry best practices into operations. This position is a member of the Chlorinated Methane Product (CMP) staff and is responsible for collaborating across disciplines, departments, and locations to ensure implementation of process safety fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the plant's revalidation and implementation of LOPA/PHA and resolve identified gaps.
  • Review engineering deliverables and designs to ensure safety matters are addressed.
  • Manage and lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), HazOp, FMEA and other PSM-related studies for existing processes, projects, and modifications.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement process safety fundamentals and operating disciplines.
  • Drive improvements to the plants process safety culture through operations trainings; being an active participant in MOC reviews, procedure audits, and supporting the plant in process safety related root cause analysis (RCA).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of chemical industry experience, Process Safety Management, or similar process safety function.
  • Experience with plant improvement project implementation and leading process hazard analysis (PHA) reviews.
  • Functional knowledge of consequence modeling, PSM and RMP program development, quantitative risk analysis, fault-tree analysis, SIL/Sis, and relief systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA's PSM Regulations, 29 CFR 1910 and EPA's RMP Regulation, 40 CFR 68 preferred. Professional certification/registration preferred.
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
