Job Summary

The Department of Justice is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Correctional Institution Administrator at the United States Penitentiary, Florence, CO. As the SES Warden, you will be responsible for the overall management of a federal prison, ensuring the safekeeping, care, protection, discipline, programming, and release of over 783 high-security inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all administrative functions of the institution, including planning and coordinating programs related to security, discipline, and developmental issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the effective operation of the prison, including the management of staff, resources, and facilities.
  • Collaborate with regional and national stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal regulations and policies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Ensure the safety and security of inmates, staff, and visitors, while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
Requirements
  • Must have progressively responsible experience in a correctional environment, demonstrating the ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties.
  • Must have experience in training subordinates, coordinating and directing operations, and evaluating performance.
  • Must have a strong understanding of federal regulations and policies related to corrections.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, making sound decisions and taking initiative as needed.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, inmates, and external stakeholders.

A concise executive summary must show where and when the qualifications were obtained, the organizational setting in which the experience was acquired.

ECQ narratives must demonstrate relevant experience that address the leadership competencies.

Completed ECQs must not exceed 2 pages per ECQ.
