The Department of Justice is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Senior Executive Service (SES) Warden at the United States Penitentiary, Florence, CO. As the SES Warden, you will be responsible for the overall management of a federal prison, ensuring the safekeeping, care, protection, discipline, programming, and release of over 783 high-security inmates.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the prison, including planning and coordinating programs related to security, discipline, and inmate development.
- Supervise and direct a team of correctional officers and support staff to ensure the effective implementation of prison policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce recidivism rates and improve inmate rehabilitation outcomes.
- Collaborate with other federal agencies, state and local governments, and non-profit organizations to achieve common goals and improve correctional outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and laws related to corrections, including the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Must have progressively responsible experience in a correctional environment, demonstrating the ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties.
- Must have experience in training subordinates, coordinating and directing operations, and evaluating performance.
- Must have a strong understanding of correctional policies and procedures, as well as federal laws and regulations related to corrections.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, making sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with inmates, staff, and external stakeholders.
