Job Summary

The Facilities Operations Engineer will collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager to oversee all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) functions, maintenance tasks, and energy management initiatives, ensuring alignment with Bedrock's quality standards and operational goals. This role requires a team member with extensive MEP expertise who can support multiple properties and act as a technical advisor for construction projects and property management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage plant operations, including but not limited to:
    • Initiating and concluding plant operations
    • Conducting operational rounds
    • Optimizing plant performance
    • Performing chemical analysis tests as directed by Engineering Leadership, documenting any irregularities and unsatisfactory results
    • Reading utility meters for steam, gas, water, and electricity
  • Address multiple requests from various sources (Team Leader, tenants, security, etc.) and prioritize tasks to resolve immediate issues, while keeping Engineering Leadership informed of changing priorities
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies as instructed by Engineering Leadership
  • Assist in training and developing other team members
  • Operate, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and MEP equipment as outlined by Engineering Leadership, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting preventative maintenance and repairs on MEP systems
  • Maintaining and repairing architectural systems and finishes
  • Adjusting HVAC and related equipment to maintain established comfort levels
  • Assessing the environmental impact of projects
  • Implementing cost-reduction strategies
  • Incorporating sustainable features into facility designs
  • Analyzing operational data to evaluate processes and efficiencies
  • Implementing design or process enhancements
  • Completing all required safety training provided by Bedrock
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by Engineering Leadership
Position Requirements
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying work schedules: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional weekend and evening coverage
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • 5+ years of experience in a hands-on MEP-focused role
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (secondary level skilled trades education preferred)
  • EPA Universal 608 Certification (preferred)
Position Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and skill development (MEP credentials/licenses)
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team
  • Compliance with Bedrock's uniform policy to maintain a professional appearance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications, such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is preferred
  • Ability to interpret and utilize shop manuals and drawings
  • Physical capability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to access confined spaces, such as crawl spaces and roofs
  • Full manual dexterity for various physical tasks
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment using deductive reasoning
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical control devices
  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools
  • Understanding of measuring and recording equipment, such as temperature indicators and pressure gauges
