Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a union workforce through coaching, counseling, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Ensure supervised team complies with safety standards, policies, and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
  • Build good working relationships with internal and external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure work is performed efficiently and effectively.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred along with related operations work experience to include the supervision of others, SME or Project Lead experience.
  • 4-8 years of construction experience highly preferred (C&M Supervisor), otherwise, 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role required with experience managing union employees being highly preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience with a focus on Construction, Field Operations, or Customer Field Services preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of distribution system, engineering, construction, and/or maintenance practices preferred.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to small audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Comfortable using MS Office (e.g., Office, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License Required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hour supervisory duties.
