Position Overview:
The Product Marketing Manager role at Sunbeam will play a crucial part in formulating and implementing strategies for future expansion.
• Collaborate across various business units and key functions—Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Distribution, Customer Service, IT, Finance, HR, Legal—as well as centralized support teams to drive profitable sales for Sunbeam.
• Regularly conduct analyses to identify reasons for business line performance, whether successful or lacking, and provide actionable recommendations for growth enhancement.
• Gain insights into the target consumer and their journey. Deliver compelling and persuasive messaging at critical moments to influence purchase decisions and engagement.
• Utilize eCommerce and Direct-to-Consumer data to enhance omnichannel performance.
• Manage the business with a focus on agility and profitability enhancement.
• Spearhead the innovation process to introduce new products that foster category growth and elevate Newell's gross margin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of the annual brand marketing and business strategy.
- Contribute to achieving revenue and profit objectives by executing key initiatives effectively and timely.
- Oversee the Advertising & Promotion budget.
- Lead the majority of new product and innovation initiatives; collaborate with the Project Management Office to ensure cross-functional readiness for innovation milestones.
- Partner with finance to deliver precise innovation forecasts; leverage financial insights for decision-making that considers overall impact.
- Understand the target consumer and ensure all efforts align with their needs.
- Draft briefs for consumer insights projects; collaborate with the insights team to ensure research is purposeful and actionable; review research outcomes and recommend actions in partnership with the Insights team.
- Work with sales and customer planning to prepare presentations for key clients and ensure readiness for joint business planning.
- Utilize analytics on shelf share to inform the innovation pipeline and develop a future portfolio that drives trade-up, increases margins, and enhances shelf presence; improve in-market assortment.
- Identify top-selling eCommerce products and collaborate with the digital marketing team to create strategies that invest in retailer media and affiliate marketing to boost market share.
- Evaluate the ROI of events, advertising, and projects; apply data and an ROI mindset to project selection.
- Analyze promotional events and strategies; collaborate with sales to recommend enhancements to the promotional plan.
- Research key competitors to understand their pricing and promotional strategies.
- Support customer teams in unlocking new distribution opportunities (selling decks, sell sheets, samples, etc.).
- Conduct quarterly in-market store evaluations.
- Lead the monthly SKU Health Check process to ensure timely deletions and manage new SKU creation to meet targets.
- Engage in the creative strategy development process.
- Draft creative briefs for various digital marketing initiatives.
- Collaborate with the eCommerce and Digital Marketing teams to conduct A/B testing on creative content to quickly identify the most effective materials and invest accordingly.
- Participate in media mix modeling; apply insights to enhance business performance.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- A four-year college degree; MBA preferred.
- 4-5+ years of experience in brand management.
- Experience in diagnosing business performance using tools such as ACNielsen, IRI, NPD, or other systems measuring Point of Sale and shipment data.
- Prior experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or a Durables organization.
- Familiarity with consumer insights and leveraging analytics from primary and secondary research, emerging trends, POS results, and competitor/category actions to drive brand sales leadership.
- Proven track record of delivering results.
