JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY: Develop preliminary budgets and cost estimates for fixed price, maximum price guarantees, and design-build contracts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Examine bid documents and architectural plans, assess bidding criteria, and contribute to bid strategy formulation.
  • Oversee bid submissions, organize necessary documentation, and compile comprehensive bids.
  • Generate a list of subcontractor invitations and coordinate site visits.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed scopes of work for various trades.
  • Respond to RFI inquiries, draft precise proposal letters, and establish project timelines.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and evaluate subcontractor bids effectively.
  • Conduct project reviews with project managers after successful bid awards.
  • Support field operations teams with project coordination related to estimates.
  • Travel locally for pre-bid discussions and site evaluations as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE
  • Experience in estimating for a general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Familiarity with estimating methodologies and construction trades.
  • Proficient in analyzing subcontractor bids and possessing strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
  • Able to manage multiple projects with effective time management and collaboration skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong communication abilities, professional demeanor, and capacity to engage with diverse groups.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand and sit throughout the workday, handle documents, and perform tasks such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching as needed.
  • Effective oral communication skills and capability to lift items up to 25 pounds.
  • Competence in reviewing written materials and utilizing computer systems.
