The Lead Corrosion Engineering Specialist will collaborate closely with a licensed corrosion expert to support project teams in developing exceptional designs for various initiatives, including new constructions, modifications, and redevelopment projects.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will engage with the project team throughout the design and construction phases, making necessary adjustments to plans based on budgetary limitations, design considerations, and client requirements.
Engineering Duties:
You will be responsible for executing intermediate to advanced corrosion engineering tasks and cathodic protection designs across a range of engineering challenges with moderate supervision.
Team Collaboration:
Functioning as a vital member of a team, you will work on multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities.
Technical Documentation:
Assist in creating technical drawings, including site layouts, standard details, material lists, equipment schedules, and other related documentation.
Project Development:
Support the development of studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, and design documents related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection and AC mitigation systems.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to technical standards and procedures in compliance with federal regulations and client specifications.
Collaboration and Communication:
Maintain a cooperative spirit while working with other teams and global practices within the organization. Review and refine engineering reports and consult with field personnel regarding any necessary modifications to system designs.
Economic Analysis:
Conduct economic assessments of alternative cathodic protection and corrosion control methods, assisting in cost estimation and proposal development.
Client Interaction:
Engage with clients professionally, striving to understand their interests and drivers through regular communication and interaction with project leadership.
Design Leadership:
Lead the preparation of cathodic protection designs, specifying anode types, quantities, locations, rectifier placements, test station sites, and other essential design elements.
Problem Solving:
Apply engineering principles and problem-solving techniques to all project-related challenges, particularly in corrosion management.
Field Inspections:
Assist in conducting field inspections, measurements, or calculations for both public and private sector clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a related domain.
- Professional Engineering (PE) and/or NACE certifications are highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of standard corrosion engineering practices and principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in various software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and civil analysis programs.
