Job Summary:
Manage self-pay account receivables to ensure efficient collections from patients. Address bankruptcy notifications, discharges, and legal filings as necessary.

Responsible for handling incoming calls and resolving inquiries related to patient accounts, initiating collections, processing patient terminations, sending necessary correspondence, and coordinating with probate court for accounts of deceased patients.

Key Responsibilities:


Assist patients and insurance representatives with inquiries regarding account receivables, striving to resolve issues and collect outstanding balances.


Achieve daily collection targets by securing payments from patients on their accounts through proactive communication and establishing payment plans.


Conduct audits on patient accounts to verify the accuracy of charges, payments, demographic data, insurance details, and compliance with contractual obligations.

Request adjustments, write-offs, payments, transfers, and refunds when warranted.


Analyze accounts receivable aging reports, review claims, assess patient eligibility, and ensure the accuracy of account information for timely payment processing.

Evaluate patient charges for delinquency and determine appropriate collection actions.

Process bankruptcy notifications and discharges to adjust accounts accordingly. File claims with bankruptcy court and review reports regularly to ensure timely follow-up on bankruptcy claims.

Monitor deceased patient logs and reports weekly. Follow up on accounts to ascertain estate status and liaise with probate court as needed. Complete adjustment requests when appropriate.

Assess accounts for patient termination based on financial criteria in accordance with organizational policy. Issue termination letters, verify completion of the process, and send relevant documentation to the appropriate department.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance guidelines through continuous education and resources.

Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of two years in insurance follow-up or patient account management, complemented by a background in customer service.

Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
