Position Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Technical Trainer specializing in Hoisting and Rigging to join our Training Facilitation team. This role is integral to our commitment to safety and operational excellence, focusing on delivering comprehensive training programs. The position requires expertise in Hoisting & Rigging, with additional knowledge in areas such as HAZMAT, environmental safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, radiological operations, aerial lift/forklift operations, confined space protocols, and fall protection. While extensive experience in Hoisting and Rigging is essential, candidates are not required to possess technical knowledge in all listed areas. Preference will be given to those with diverse experience across several domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute facility-specific training and qualification programs. Topics may encompass job skills training, first aid, radiological safety (radiation worker, RCT/HPT), health and safety protocols, hoisting and rigging techniques, respirator training, and security operations.
  • Assess training needs and evaluate requirements to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Create learning objectives, lesson plans, training materials, assessment criteria, and both written and oral examinations to guarantee staff competency in compliance with regulations and procedures. Aim for high proficiency and knowledge retention among participants.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements: Level 2: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Education, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with 2 years of experience; or, alternatively, 8 years of relevant experience without a degree. Level 3: A Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience must be related to technical facility training programs within commercial or Department of Energy (DOE) environments.
  • This role necessitates the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The salary range for this position is: Level 2 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496). Compensation is determined based on education, relevant experience, and other qualifications.

  • This is a multi-level position, and placement will be based on the depth and breadth of demonstrated experience and skills.
