Idaho National Laboratory is hiring Fusion Technical Staff member to work on our Nuclear Science & Technology team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex facility with every Friday off.

This position conducts experimental and analytical work supporting the Fusion Safety Program. Experimental contributions span all areas of experimental activities conducted at the Safety and Tritium Applied Research (STAR) facility with a focus on experimental facilities that perform ion beam/plasma materials interaction and tritium permeation studies. This position supports a broad range of exciting projects related to advanced reactor technology and fusion energy.

Responsibilities Include:

Assist in the design, assembly, and operation of unique and custom laboratory experiments.Performing experiments in coordination with prescribed test matrices.Support the operation and interpretation of results from the fusion safety computational capabilitiesSupport the operation of laboratory instrumentation, which includes diagnostics, repair, replacement, and fabrication of components. Equipment includes, but is not limited to high vacuum chambers, pumps, cryogenics, gauges, detectors, valves, heaters, and pneumatics.Meet environmental, health, and safety goals, and perform all work in an environmentally safe and compliant manner.Participation in research planning by contributing to project planning and review meetings.Publishing in peer-reviewed journals and participating in conference activities.Qualifications

Level 2: PhD and 0 years of relevant experienceLevel 3: PhD and 2 years of relevant experience

Applicant must have demonstrated expertise in:

Design, assembly, and operation of pressure, vacuum, and electrical systems.CAD software such as inventor, creo, and solid works..Computer control of experimental equipment, computer programming languages (FORTRAN), data acquisition (LabVIEW), and data analysis and interpretation (MatLab, Mathematica, IDL, ...). Knowledge of energy systems materialsMust be able to work in culturally diverse environment.

Applicant must able to qualify for:

Respirator usage.Radworker II training and perform radwork inside the tritium confinement enclosure.Perform experiment apparatus mechanical and instrumentation assembly with hand tools and power tools.

Job Information:

The pay range for this position is: Level 2 - min $75,804 - max $155,496 / Level 3 - min $91,008 - max $186,588.
