Music Therapist Job Description

At St. Croix Hospice, we are seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will provide music therapy services to patients under the direction of our clinical supervisor or clinical director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct music therapy services to patients, following the individualized plan of care.
  • Assess patients for medical indication for services and perform assessments to determine the effectiveness of therapy.
  • Treat patients to relieve symptoms and provide psychological, psychosocial, physical, and spiritual comfort.
  • Direct and aid patients through music therapy interventions to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, agitation, restlessness, depression, pain, emotional distress, and social isolation.
  • Utilize interventions such as relaxation, imagery, lyric analysis, song writing, reminiscence, entrainment, life review, receptive listening, and life legacy projects.
  • Observe and report patient responses to treatment and changes in patient condition to the clinical supervisor or clinical director.
  • Provide education and awareness to the clinical team regarding therapy treatment appropriateness or contraindications.
  • Maintain necessary records, including clinical notes, problem charting, and coordination notes.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited music therapy program with a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy.
  • Meets personnel qualifications stated in § b).
  • Completion and passing of the National Certification Exam (CBMT) credentials of MT-BC Music Therapy Board Certified preferred.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
