Bally's Corporation is seeking a Broadcast Operations Specialist to become an integral part of our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background and a thorough understanding of broadcast systems within a master control setting. This role encompasses managing both pre-recorded programming and live broadcasts, including events and studio productions. The Broadcast Operations Specialist is accountable for maintaining high-quality on-air presentations across all programming. Effective communication with various departments and the ability to perform under pressure are essential skills for this position.

Bally's Corporation is a prominent player in the entertainment industry, offering a diverse range of live and on-demand content, including sports events, highlights, and original programming. Our services include a continuous linear feed available on multiple platforms, alongside a vast selection of on-demand digital content.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate the Grass Valley ITX Master Control System for on-air broadcasts.
  • Edit and manage on-air logs, automation playlists, and server devices as needed.
  • Execute live on-air transitions with remote and studio sources, ensuring smooth playlist routing.
  • Monitor the quality of outgoing signals and make necessary adjustments to equipment.
  • Utilize on-air graphic elements through Grass Valley Vertigo, including ticker and sponsor graphics.
  • Preview scheduled broadcasts to confirm signal integrity and program readiness, ensuring accuracy in air checklists and playlist monitoring.
  • Ensure the accuracy of closed captioning.
  • Support station operations by collaborating with engineering, ingest, and other departments.
  • Report equipment issues, facilitate repairs, and implement emergency workarounds as required.
  • Conduct quality control for filing shows and commercial spots into the video server, with a strong understanding of spot delivery platforms.
  • Employ analytical thinking to address work-related challenges effectively.
  • Demonstrate dependability and fulfill network obligations consistently.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail in completing tasks and communicating through engineering and discrepancy reports.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Master Control, with a preference for Grass Valley ITX experience.
  • A degree in a related field (Communications, Broadcasting) is preferred.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is necessary.
  • A proactive approach and strong initiative are essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret video and audio metering software is required.
  • Detail-oriented mindset is crucial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
  • Flexibility to work nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential attributes.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Regularly required to stand or sit, communicate, and use hands and fingers for operating computers and telephones.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds of equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to setting up production environments, including bending and kneeling.
  • Comfortable working in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to engage in extended periods of computer work.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours for special events as needed.
