This position is integral to the Test & Flight Operations division, delivering centralized assistance to various business units with an emphasis on the design, construction, and upkeep of ground systems, testing, and launch facilities across multiple sites.

As a member of a dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of diverse ground systems tailored to meet Blue Origin's operational requirements. This includes controller electronics, software, harness and power electronics, and instrumentation. Your contributions will encompass requirements development, technical trade studies, risk management, systems safety, integration, verification, validation, and other systems engineering activities. These tasks will necessitate a broad application of systems engineering principles, along with a solid understanding of software, control hardware, and related disciplines. You will collaborate with the Test and Flight Operations team to apply technical standards and processes that facilitate effective software and control systems development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate high-level software requirements for controller electronics.
  • Compose or evaluate software design documentation.
  • Assist in conducting technical trade studies.
  • Draft or assess software interface control documents (SW ICD).
  • Prepare or review software verification documentation, scripts, and outcomes.
  • Support verification processes for software and subsystem integration.
  • Ensure software is primed for integrated system testing.
  • Monitor anomaly reports and software change requests from initiation to resolution.
  • Utilize collaborative tools such as Jama, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, and Creo.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • Over 2 years of experience in systems engineering or software engineering, with a focus on software requirements development or verification.
  • Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to thrive in collaborative team settings.
  • Capacity to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and foster an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee or asylee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with industry-standard software regulations (e.g., DO-178B/C DAL).
Compensation:
Compensation for on-site applicants varies based on location and experience.
