About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead our Geotechnical Team in the Sacramento branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight, managing a team of geotechnical practitioners, and growing the practice while generating significant revenue at target profit levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, and engineering geologists in our Sacramento Office.
  • Provide technical leadership and senior-level oversight, serving as Engineer of Record.
  • Lead and grow the practice, generating significant revenue at target profit levels.
  • Lead proposal efforts, maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate in client-based professional organizations, and present at industry events.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff in the West Region offices.
  • Serve in a leadership role model for company culture and values across the organization.
  • Contribute to strategic planning at the office, regional, and national levels.
  • Coordinate with Senior Geotechnical and Engineering Geology practitioners throughout the West and other Senior Consultants throughout the company to meet client needs.
  • Overnight travel is required, approximately 20 to 30%.
Requirements
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering with 10+ years in a project management role.
  • Minimum of M.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • California Professional Engineering license (PE) required; Geotechnical license (GE) preferred.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of the principles of geotechnical and earthquake engineering.
  • Diverse technical background, including experience in dam and levee engineering and risk-informed decision making.
  • Seller-Doer with strong client relationships, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a track record of generating new work and growing a business segment.
  • Recognized for technical excellence and the development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.
  • Collegial team builder with excellent interpersonal skills.
