Job Summary:
As a Medical Billing Specialist at NEWPORT HOSPITAL AND HEALTH SERVICES, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submission of medical claims to third-party payers. This involves reviewing claims for completeness and accuracy, researching denied or incomplete bills, and submitting secondary claims as needed. You will also be responsible for interacting with patients to understand their medical benefits and resolving minor billing complaints. Additionally, you will work closely with district departments to provide updates on codes, benefits limits, and changes to patients' health insurance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify accuracy of medical claims
  • Research and resolve denied or incomplete bills
  • Submit secondary claims and make adjustments as needed
  • Interact with patients to understand medical benefits and resolve billing complaints
  • Provide updates to district departments on codes, benefits limits, and changes to patients' health insurance

Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • 2 or more years' experience in medical billing or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year experience in a related field, such as insurance office, hospital, or physician office billing
  • 2 years of general office experience
