Position Overview


ROLE SUMMARY: The Nurse Lactation Consultant is responsible for overseeing lactation management initiatives and delivering expert nursing care focused on lactation to patients and their families. This role includes providing both initial and ongoing lactation education to obstetrical staff and other healthcare professionals.

*This is a Part-Time Evening position with a commitment of 24 hours per week.*

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess a foundational professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, along with a solid understanding of theory and practice in a specialized area. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a CCNE accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and newborn care. Certification as an IBCLC or Breastfeeding Counselor, with the intention to pursue IBCLC certification, is essential. A valid Maryland Registered Nurse License and American Heart Association BLS Certification are also required. IBCLC certification must be achieved within 6 months to 1 year from the date of hire. A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience is necessary.
