Summary



POSITION OVERVIEW: The Nurse Lactation Consultant is responsible for overseeing lactation management initiatives and delivering expert nursing care in the field of lactation to patients and their families. This role includes the provision of initial and ongoing lactation education for obstetrical personnel and other health care team members.

*This is a Part-Time Evening role requiring a commitment of 24 hours per week.*

QUALIFICATIONS: A foundational professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree is required, along with a solid understanding of the theory and practice within a specialized area. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from CCNE accredited institutions is mandatory, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and newborn care. Certification as an IBCLC or Breastfeeding Counselor with the intention to pursue IBCLC certification is necessary. A valid Maryland Registered Nurse License and American Heart Association BLS Certification are also required. IBCLC certification must be achieved within 6 months to 1 year from the date of hire. A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience is essential.
