Summary
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Nurse Lactation Consultant is responsible for overseeing lactation management initiatives and delivering expert nursing care focused on lactation support for patients and their families. This role includes providing both initial and ongoing education related to lactation for obstetrical personnel and other healthcare team members.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a part-time evening role requiring a commitment of 24 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of two years of experience in maternal and newborn care. Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or as a Breastfeeding Counselor is required, with the expectation to obtain IBCLC certification within 6 to 12 months of employment. A valid Maryland Registered Nurse License and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are also mandatory. A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience is essential.
