Position Overview
ROLE SUMMARY: The Nurse Lactation Consultant is responsible for coordinating lactation management initiatives and delivering expert nursing care in the domain of lactation to patients and their families. This role includes providing initial and ongoing education regarding lactation to obstetrical staff and other health care professionals.
*This is a Part-Time Evening position with a commitment of 24 hours per week.*
QUALIFICATIONS: A foundational professional understanding equivalent to a Bachelor's degree is required, along with practical knowledge in a specialized area. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from CCNE accredited institutions is mandatory, alongside a minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and newborn care. Candidates must possess IBCLC certification or Breastfeeding Counselor certification with the intention to pursue IBCLC certification. A valid Maryland Registered Nurse License and American Heart Association BLS Certification are essential. IBCLC certification must be acquired within 6 months to 1 year from the date of employment. A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience is required.
