Estate Settlement Specialist

Vaco is seeking an Estate Settlement Advisor to perform complex estate settlement functions, requiring a deep understanding of trusts, estate planning, investments, probate, and tax laws. The ideal candidate will maintain high client engagement while ensuring efficient and timely completion of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume full responsibility for all stages of estate settlement, including asset valuation, collection, and transfer, payment of debts and liabilities, asset distribution, and trust funding.
  • Establish and maintain a detailed timetable and tracking system for estate settlement.
  • Prepare accurate federal and state estate or inheritance tax returns, adhering to all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Analyze estate tax planning documents and generate comprehensive estate tax projections.
  • Oversee all aspects of the probate accounting process, collaborating with internal partners and external counsel.
  • Actively participate in the gift tax return process, including processing and reviewing complex returns.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. with demonstrated experience in estate settlement in a law firm or small investment office.
  • Member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
  • 7-10 years of previous estate settlement experience.

Determining compensation for this role depends upon a wide array of factors, including the individual's skill sets, experience, and training, licensure and certification requirements, office location, and other business and organizational needs. Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
