Machine Maintenance Technician

Overview:
The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering essential support for all production and assembly machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this position, the individual must competently perform each critical duty. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Develops and schedules preventative maintenance routines, equipment shutdowns, and repair work in collaboration with management.
  • Monitors equipment downtime, mean time to repair (MTTR), mean time between failures (MTBF), and implements organization and housekeeping enhancements.
  • Generates daily and monthly operational reports.
  • Ensures accuracy in equipment materials and spare parts for items undergoing repair.
  • Executes time-based preventive maintenance tasks within the SAP system.
  • Communicates results and improvement strategies for maintenance activities.
  • Works closely with Engineering for the installation of new machinery.
  • Evaluates and supports the effective maintenance of equipment, providing weekly and monthly performance reports.
  • Reviews plans for weekends, shutdowns, preventive maintenance, and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensures the precision of equipment materials and spare parts.
  • Compiles detailed lists of equipment discrepancies along with corrective measures.
  • Facilitates and updates improvements for equipment and parts repairs.
  • Assists in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
  • Creates a comprehensive repair manual for future reference.
  • Identifies and coordinates departmental training requirements and formulates training plans.
  • Maintains Personal Protective Equipment in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Adheres to and promotes workplace safety, including participation in safety meetings and conducting them when required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a maintenance technician.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the automotive industry is essential.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with SAP is necessary.
  • Experience with automated production lines is beneficial.
  • Manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of production robotics is a plus.
  • Understanding of conveyor systems is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing practices is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
  • Proficient in the use of both hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of schematics and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of servo motors and control systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic presses.
  • Knowledge of centrifugal pumps.
  • Proficient in welding techniques including SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW.
  • Adherence to safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Certifications:
Mechatronic background is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • 80% of the time spent on the production floor, 20% in an office setting.
  • Requires extensive walking and standing on the production floor.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and weekends is required.
  • Team-oriented working environment.
  • Mandatory use of PPE at all times.
