Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information, overseeing the departmental travel request process, and participating in the preparation of monthly financial statements and annual fiscal year close reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting information, including transactions, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Travel Management: Oversee the departmental travel request process, monitor travel policies, and make procedural updates as needed.
  • Financial Analysis: Participate in the preparation of monthly financial statements and annual fiscal year close reports, and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Internal Controls: Assist in documenting and monitoring internal controls to ensure alignment with fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with the Purchasing/Payments team, communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers, and escalate issues as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Experience: At least three years of related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, excellent verbal and communication skills, and proficiency in Excel and database applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Higher Education: Experience working in an academic department in a higher education setting.
  • Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in The University of Texas at Austin's financial system (DEFINE, FRMS), electronic office manager, and human capital management (Workday).
