Position Overview
Dow is looking for a Senior Metallurgist to contribute to our operations. In this position, you will share responsibility for plant assets and personnel while driving the achievement of business objectives. You will provide leadership support to maintenance teams and serve as a liaison to enhance collaboration across various maintenance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives focused on metallurgical improvements and corrosion management.
- Conduct failure analyses and provide materials selection guidance, primarily for metals and alloys, ensuring asset integrity at large petrochemical facilities.
- Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and Dow practices during materials-related inspections and repairs.
- Perform on-site inspections to guarantee equipment integrity.
- Collaborate with maintenance engineers to troubleshoot and repair critical equipment, enhancing safety and reliability.
- Offer technical support during plant turnarounds and shutdowns, including assessments and reviews.
- Mentor inspection and engineering teams in materials engineering practices.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Most Effective Technology (MET) documentation.
- Provide technical guidance to regional and site teams on metallurgical and corrosion engineering issues.
- Engage in Technical Solutions Teams to leverage best practices.
- Support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) initiatives, particularly in field operations.
- Implement and uphold the Maintenance Procedure Use Policy, ensuring compliance among maintenance personnel.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, engineering, or manufacturing.
- Ability to work safely at elevated heights, with familiarity or willingness to learn safety equipment usage.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Expertise in materials, corrosion, or metallurgical engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience leading team meetings and interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of thriving in a collaborative environment.
- Effective planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail for maintaining essential documentation.
