Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States Johnson Controls International Full time
Job Overview:

The Financial Controller for Global Manufacturing will lead the accounting operations that underpin the global production facilities for the Global Products division.

This position, reporting through the Controllership, will act as a consultant to the Company's Center of Excellence Record-to-Report (RTR) teams, Plant Controllers, and operational leaders to guarantee the integrity of accounting and reporting, as well as compliance with effective controls, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and Company policies. In this newly established role, the individual will oversee the reporting and analysis of actual financial outcomes.

The primary focus will be on ensuring uniformity in cost accounting practices across the segment, irrespective of the ERP systems in use.

This role will provide guidance, training, and support to various stakeholders on a range of financial and accounting matters related to inventory and cost accounting, aiming for alignment and achievement of manufacturing processes throughout the organization.

This is a hybrid position based at the corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with RTR and business finance to review and approve the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.

This includes the examination of significant reserves and account reconciliations concerning inventory, along with overall balance sheet and financial metric trends to ensure precision and identify potential discrepancies.

Supervise essential period-end closing tasks such as absorption accounting, PPV capitalization, freight accruals, and variance analysis.

Establish global protocols for the calculation and assessment of pertinent accruals and reserves, including obsolete and slow-moving inventory, freight, and other related accruals.

Analyze actual costs against standard costs, identify variances, and provide insights and recommendations to management.
Collaborate with finance teams at each manufacturing site and RTR to ensure consistent costing methodologies, cost pooling, and policies.
Guarantee that robust controls are implemented and sustained for key financial areas related to inventory and cost accounting.
Identify opportunities for process enhancements in a shared services environment and develop and execute solutions.
Work closely with, mentor, and oversee the RTR teams that manage the underlying transactional details of each region. Build a talent pipeline through the Company's RTR team to strengthen finance functions.
Engage with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and improve efficiency while implementing initiatives.
Proactively recognize business and financial opportunities and corrective measures, executing them or communicating them to management for action.

Provide financial leadership, training, and direction to the financial and operational teams to enhance their financial acumen and business skills, enabling them to manage their responsibilities more effectively.

Support the development and enhancement of IT financial and business systems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting with extensive experience in inventory and cost accounting within a global organization. 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience. Proven ability to contribute to business performance.
Advanced computer proficiency, including OneStream, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial reporting software. Familiarity with multiple ERP systems that facilitate inventory accounting, preferably SAP. Capability to engage with a global business and shared service center footprint, accommodating various time zones and cultures. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in public accounting and industry settings. CPA certification. Experience managing a team with remote members.
