POSITION OVERVIEW:
As the Head of Tax Strategy and Compliance, you will play a crucial role in steering both domestic and international tax operations. Your responsibilities will include the assessment of tax obligations, preparation of tax documentation, external reporting, and conducting thorough tax research and analysis. This position also emphasizes Tax Research & Planning, a critical area dedicated to understanding the implications of current, proposed, and emerging tax legislation.

In this capacity, you will be tasked with examining, interpreting, and analyzing tax regulations to evaluate their effects on the organization’s tax responsibilities. Your insights will be essential in uncovering avenues for tax efficiency and offering strategic guidance on the tax ramifications of potential business transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and asset sales.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the annual and quarterly global income tax provision process, which includes calculating the effective tax rate, deferred tax computations, tax liabilities, uncertain tax positions, and reconciling tax accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls related to income tax accounting, including the development, documentation, and implementation of necessary tax controls.
  • Guarantee adherence to U.S. GAAP tax disclosure standards for SEC Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on changes to U.S. and international tax regulations to assess their impact on financial statements.
  • Lead investigations into complex tax matters and transactions, promptly evaluating the income tax and accounting implications and conveying findings to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, Business Units, and other corporate teams to ensure data flow requirements meet global reporting and compliance standards.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of tax technology solutions and data management systems to enhance automation and mitigate risks within the global tax function.
  • Direct the income tax budgeting and forecasting process, including monthly global cash tax forecast reporting.
  • Ensure the Company's compliance with all U.S. federal income tax laws through the timely and accurate preparation of the consolidated federal tax return, overseeing complex processes and reconciliations involved in its preparation.
  • Manage the audit defense process, ensuring thorough issue analysis and negotiation of audit resolutions while fostering a relationship of trust and transparency with the IRS and other tax authorities.
  • Mentor and develop staff and managers through a culture of continuous feedback. Oversee co-sourcing and outsourcing partnerships with external service providers.
  • Identify, develop, and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the Company's global effective tax rate and cash tax expenditures.
  • Assist in the planning, structuring, and reporting of acquisitions and divestitures, including modeling the tax implications of transactions, purchase accounting, and tax elections.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • CPA/master's degree in taxation and/or JD/LLM.
  • At least 12 years of experience in income tax, managing and developing a diverse team of tax professionals.
  • Expertise in complex federal, international, and transaction tax concepts related to acquisitions and dispositions.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASC 740 with substantial application and review experience.
  • Extensive experience in leading federal income tax returns for multinational corporations.
  • Familiarity with tax compliance and provision software, including ONESOURCE Tax suite.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining intricate tax concepts to varied audiences.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational abilities with effective prioritization in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (especially Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, promoting diversity and fostering a collaborative team environment.
