Job Summary

About the Role

Tufts Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Leader RN to join our team. As a Clinical Leader RN, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily clinical and administrative operations of a designated unit or program. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of nursing practice and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of a designated unit or program.
  • Prepare staff schedules, request and allocate resources, and facilitate coordination of care/services to meet patient care and operational requirements.
  • Ensure that patient care is aligned with the goals, mission, and vision of the hospital.
  • Supervise and evaluate nursing and support personnel, and participate in the selection of new hires.
  • Lead and/or participate in hospital, departmental, and multidisciplinary teams, committees, councils, and special projects.
  • Develop and implement a process improvement plan for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintain and develop clinical knowledge, judgment, and skills.
  • Propose topics to explore and participate in nursing research.
  • Supervise unit/department personnel by evaluating work performance, providing guidance, and timely feedback based on outcome measures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of clinical and patient satisfaction initiatives, key performance indicators, standards of nursing practice, and outcomes of patient care.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of demonstrated clinical nursing practice, including progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Specialty Nursing certifications.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, and Cardiac interventional unit.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases.
  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Handles emergency and crisis situations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clinical reasoning, which includes clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and a global grasp of the situation, coupled with nursing skills acquired through a process of integrating formal and experiential knowledge.
  • Ability to facilitate patient, family, and staff learning across the care continuum.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to work under stressful situations; possesses good oral and written communication skills and is able to effectively work in a changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team.
  • Excels at demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients in the relevant area of nursing practice.
  • Ability to be flexible, organized, and function well under stressful situations.
