Client: FWS Environmental Conservation Online System (ECOS)

Location: Falls Church, VA (Hybrid: 2-3 days in office, 2-3 days remote)

Clearance Requirement: Public Trust

Citizenship Requirement: US or Green Card / Permanent Resident – must pass a Background Investigation

Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Information Systems with 5-7 years of relevant experience

Role Summary: This position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring in-office presence for part of the week at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's office located in Falls Church, VA. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is dedicated to the conservation, protection, and enhancement of fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the benefit of the American populace. The Environmental Conservation Online System (ECOS) plays a crucial role in this mission, providing essential data on threatened and endangered species and wildlife habitat conservation to approximately 50,000 users.

Inalab Consulting is seeking a senior software developer who is passionate about supporting the mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of datasets to extract valuable trends and insights. This includes querying databases, cleaning and transforming data, and applying statistical methods to reveal actionable findings.
  • Report Design: Develop visually engaging reports that effectively communicate data insights. Utilize visualization tools, define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and organize data elements for clarity and impact.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and gather feedback for report refinement.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize a variety of reporting tools to create informative and comprehensible reports while troubleshooting existing reports.
  • Reporting Tools Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in multiple reporting platforms, transforming raw data into visually appealing and understandable reports tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Programming Skills: Utilize SQL, PL/SQL scripts, and Python for data manipulation and extraction. Handle complex datasets to customize and troubleshoot reports. Familiarity with Power BI, ETL, SSIS, SSRS, Postgres, Visualization, JavaScript, Data Warehouse, Crystal Reports, C#, Java, and FME is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Exhibit strong interpersonal skills that enhance effectiveness in a collaborative and dynamic work environment.
  • Communication Skills: Clearly articulate complex technical information to facilitate collaboration with various stakeholders, including data analysts and business leaders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate strong analytical abilities to identify issues, analyze root causes, and develop effective solutions ensuring report accuracy and relevance.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that insights presented are accurate, reliable, and aligned with the tasks at hand.
