About Palantir
We build the world's leading software for data-driven decisions and operations. Our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more.
The Role of a US Government Lawyer
Palantir's legal team works closely with the business to proactively address legal issues so that we can continue to drive positive impact across the world. As go-to advisors on the contracts that enable us to implement our state-of-the-art technology to solve real-world problems, our goal is to enable our US government agency customers to unlock their data and power critical operations.
As a US Government Counsel Advocate at Palantir, you will work on every issue we face in our US government business, including negotiating complex license and services agreements, responding to litigation and regulatory requests, providing strategic advice to business teams, and handling intellectual property, compliance, data privacy, and employment issues.
You'll be required to draw on strong communication and interpersonal skills to perform a variety of tasks, whether it's negotiating with a customer, advising business teams on product issues, or troubleshooting a draft proposal. You'll be expected to operate in demanding situations and take on novel, complex issues as they arise. This role requires attention to detail and the broad vision needed to bring large and multi-phase projects to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert counsel to support Palantir's business goals in its relationship with US government customers.
- Draft and negotiate contracts and license agreements that drive our business forward.
- Advise on product development issues, compliance, intellectual property rights, data privacy, conflicts of interest, and more.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage and resolve government inquiries effectively.
- Exercise initiative and creativity in solving challenges and staying ahead of the curve.
What We Value in Our Team Members
- A passion for cutting-edge technology and working on complex public policy challenges.
- Experience with government contracting, software licensing, or compliance is a significant advantage.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and writing skills with a demonstrated ability to propose creative solutions to novel issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively rather than in isolation.
- A preference for candidates based in DC or NY, but open to remote work arrangements.
- An active security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain a security clearance are essential.
Requirements for Success
- J.D. degree and 3+ years of experience in law firms, in-house, or government (a combination is even more beneficial).
Estimated Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this position is $170,000 - $240,000 per year. Total compensation for this position may also include restricted stock units, sign-on bonuses, and other potential future incentives. Please note that total compensation will be determined by individual qualifications, work experience, skills, and other factors. This estimate excludes the value of any potential sign-on bonus; the value of any benefits offered; and the potential future value of any long-term incentives.

- Commuter benefits to support flexible work arrangements.
- Generous paid time off, not accrual-based, allowing employees to recharge and focus on well-being.
