Job Title: Senior Vice President, General Counsel

Company Overview: As a leading national organization, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) advocates for LGBTQ+ rights. We seek an experienced attorney to join our team in a critical leadership role.

Salary: This position offers a highly competitive annual salary of $250,000.00, reflecting the importance of ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Election Law and Compliance
  1. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local candidate election law.
  2. Oversee and review necessary reports, including those filed with the FEC, House, Senate, and state/local agencies.

Nonprofit Tax Law

  1. Advise on legal tax issues, maintaining the fiscal integrity of the corporations.
  2. Guide on allocating activities between 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities.

Personnel and Labor Law

  1. Provide counsel on personnel matters, supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  2. Assist senior management with union contract negotiations.

Intellectual Property and Real Estate

  1. Offer guidance on trademark registration, licensing, and protection.
  2. Serve as lead counsel on real estate matters, including leasing space for business purposes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. JD from an accredited law school and D.C. Bar license or ability to waive into the D.C. Bar.
  2. At least 15 years of full-time legal practice, with experience in areas like election law, tax law, and labor law.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to navigate complex relationships.
