A career opportunity has arisen at the American Forest in Washington, DC. You will be an advocate for member interests, managing state and local political engagement nationwide. This role is part of AWC's government affairs portfolio, where you will coordinate with staff to develop and implement responses to pertinent issues.
Key Responsibilities- Advocate for member interests by tracking, analyzing, and reporting on state legislative activities
- Coordinate with AWC staff to develop and implement state and local responses to issues
- Identify areas of opportunity to insert AWC priorities into state and local initiatives
- Manage state contract lobbyists and other consultants as directed
To be successful in this position, you must have a minimum of three years of related experience. State advocacy experience or similar experience is preferred. You should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, you must be a motivated self-starter with experience supporting projects from conception to completion, able to quickly learn new tools and technologies, and have respect for complete confidentiality on all business matters.
Benefits and CompensationThe salary for this position is estimated to be between $75,000-$90,000. This is based on market data for comparable positions and industry standards. Factors such as relevant skills, experience, and knowledge will be considered when determining the salary of the selected candidate. AWC offers a generous benefits package, including paid vacation, personal, and sick leave, four Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plans options, a retirement plan with up to 9% employer contribution, and free access to a fitness center.
