Position Overview

The Chief Human Resources Officer is a seasoned and proactive leader responsible for steering the strategic direction of human resources within the organization. This role encompasses a comprehensive range of HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, and administrative oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Vice President for Administration & CFO, the Chief Human Resources Officer will:

  • Talent Acquisition: Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract high-caliber candidates. This includes managing the entire hiring process, from creating job descriptions to conducting interviews and facilitating onboarding.
  • Employee Relations: Foster a positive workplace culture by building strong relationships with department leaders and staff. This role will advocate for employees while ensuring adherence to policies and promoting equitable treatment.
  • Compensation & Benefits Management: Oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and collective agreements. This includes guiding employees through processes related to leave, accommodations, and other HR transactions.
  • Collaboration with State and System Entities: Engage with various state and educational system protocols to ensure compliance with employment laws and promote diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and have substantial experience in human resources, particularly in a higher education environment. A strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices is essential.

Preferred Skills
  • HR Certification (e.g., SHRM, HRCI)
  • Experience with state ERP systems
