Position Overview

The Chief Human Resources Officer is a pivotal leader with a comprehensive skill set in strategic human resource management, payroll, and benefits administration. This role encompasses the oversight of a wide array of human resource functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, and administrative processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition: Develop and implement effective strategies for sourcing and recruiting top talent. This includes managing the entire recruitment process, from defining new and replacement roles to coordinating interviews and facilitating a smooth onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Employee Relations: Foster strong relationships with department heads and staff to ensure a supportive work environment. The Director will act as an advocate for employees while promoting fair and consistent policy management.
  • Payroll and Benefits Management: Oversee payroll processing and benefits administration, ensuring compliance with relevant statutes and collective bargaining agreements. Provide guidance on employee-related matters, including leave and accommodations.
  • Collaboration with State and System Leadership: Engage with state protocols and system contacts to ensure compliance with equal employment opportunities and diversity initiatives. Stay informed on relevant legislative changes and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of eight years of experience in a human resources role, with a focus on employee engagement and compliance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM, HRCI).
  • Experience in higher education human resource operations.
  • Familiarity with state ERP systems.
