Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Therapy Coordinator to join our team at University of Utah Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess patients' abilities and limitations to develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Establish and implement therapy plans, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques within the scope of licensure.
  • Re-evaluate patients, assess their progress, and make recommendations regarding discharge.
  • Consult and co-treat with other patient care team members to discuss patient progress, set objectives for patient treatment, and integrate treatment with other activities.
  • Educate patients and/or caregivers about the findings of the evaluation, established goals of the therapy program, plan of treatment, home programs, injury prevention, and other related information.
  • Assist with departmental program development and training for therapy students.
  • Provide documentation of patient care according to established criteria.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement projects.
  • Supervise the patient care activities of aides, assistants, attendants, students, and volunteers.
  • Participate in in-services, medical conferences, staff meetings, continuing education courses, team meetings, and other related activities.
Requirements
  • 5 years of clinical/practical experience.
  • Current licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Utah or a Physical Therapist in the State of Utah (or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the Physical Therapy Compact if switching residency to State of Utah).
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Ability and willingness to train and lead department staff.
  • Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of safety issues needed in the treatment of patients, especially regarding body substance precautions and body mechanics to protect self, patients, and personnel working with therapists.
  • Ability to participate in work rotations, including weekday hours, weekends, and assigned holidays.
  • Ability to follow ethical guidelines outlined by the American Physical Therapy Association or American Occupational Therapy Association, depending upon the licensure of the incumbent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development, the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status, and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care.
