We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Music Therapy Intern to join our team at the University of Utah. As a Music Therapy Intern, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in music therapy, working with patients and their caregivers to provide evidence-based interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement music therapy interventions to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and their caregivers.
- Work under the direction and supervision of a Board-Certified Music Therapist to develop treatment plans, implement, and evaluate music therapy interventions.
- Participate as an active member of the treatment team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Evaluate and assist in procurement of needed resources to support music therapy services.
- Completion of all non-internship coursework and clinical training from an American Music Therapy Association-approved college/university prior to beginning the internship.
- Current licensure to practice as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) in the State of Utah or equivalent.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the internship, including articulating the purpose, goals, function, and value of music therapy to patients, families, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care.
