Barrow Brain and Spine is a physician-led specialty practice dedicated to neurosurgery and advanced spine treatment. Our team comprises 27 neurosurgeons and three physiatrists, collectively performing over 8,000 surgeries annually. We are a globally recognized institution that oversees the Neurosurgery Residency Program at a prominent hospital and serves a vast patient population each year.

As a Care Coordinator, you will undertake various administrative and customer service responsibilities within the physician's office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Register new patients in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, ensuring all demographic and insurance details are accurate prior to appointment scheduling.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation, including initial consultations, relevant notes, lab results, and imaging reports, for physician review before patient visits.
  • Manage patient records by opening chart encounters in the system, providing historical context for ongoing care.
  • Facilitate patient flow by welcoming and rooming patients efficiently.
  • Record vital signs and document assessments in the patient chart for physician evaluation.
  • Input orders and e-prescriptions, and generate clinical visit summaries.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments as required.
  • Maintain communication with the physician's team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Conduct clinic inventory checks and restock supplies as needed.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the clinic with minimal supervision from senior staff.
  • Support Lead Care Coordinators and Practice Operations Supervisors with various tasks as necessary.
  • Manage recall lists for physicians, create diagnostic reviews, and follow up on outstanding orders.
  • Screen incoming calls, relay messages, and schedule appointments for consultations, tests, and referrals.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure office equipment is functioning properly by following maintenance protocols and coordinating repairs.
  • May assist with surgical scheduling as directed by senior staff.
  • Provide coverage for other roles as requested.
  • Participate in compliance training and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Act as a representative of the practice, delivering exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical environment is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and prioritization skills.
