Manager In Training Job Description

At Sonic, we're looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Manager In Training. As a key member of our drive-in restaurant team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the General Manager in managing drive-in operations, including directing and assigning employees as needed.
  • Train and support other employees to ensure quality food service, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain restaurant inventory levels, placing orders for food, paper, and other supplies within cost control procedures.
  • Complete and maintain all drive-in restaurant employment-related records and payroll records.
  • Reinforce a customer service mentality and ensure all employees are focused on serving the customer at all times.
  • Immediately and respectfully resolve guest requests, reporting guest complaints to the immediate supervisor and assisting in resolving such complaints.
  • Interview and hire restaurant crew and management team members to achieve proper staffing levels.
  • Prepare all necessary operational reports, developing appropriate action plans to resolve unfavorable financial and/or sales trends.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to drive sales and growth.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced studies in business, restaurant management, or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of restaurant management experience, with a focus on QSR and shift management.
  • Ability to work a minimum 5-day workweek with 4 possible closing shifts, including irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, and selection practices, as well as federal and state labor laws and local health and sanitation laws and regulations.
  • Leadership and supervisory practices and skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and basic accounting and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with autonomy once given directions, as well as multi-task and successfully solve problems.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills, with a willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards at Sonic.
