Job Description

The Machinist Specialist will be responsible for performing complex machining operations on replacement parts, diagnosing machine problems, adjusting intricate mechanisms and machines, and installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of complicated machine tools.

Machinist Responsibilities:

  • Ensures safe working procedures are followed.
  • Manages project activities and plans machine shop operations.
  • Creates layouts for and performs machine operations with CNC-based machining equipment.
  • Performs mechanical alignment using precision tools.
  • Performs benchwork and tool grinding operations.
  • Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure effective work processes.
  • Develops and modifies CNC programs.
  • Plans stock inventory and requirements.
  • Provides recommendations for machinery upgrades and modifications.
  • Works closely with the Manager to plan work and determine techniques.
  • Focuses on core responsibilities, with less than 20% of time spent on secondary tasks.

Machinist Qualifications:

  • Machinist certification and/or Associate's Degree.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in machinist roles.
  • Master Cam experience preferred, with ability to quickly learn.
  • G-Code experience preferred, with ability to quickly learn.
  • Waterjet cutting experience preferred, with ability to quickly learn.
  • Cmm and laser measuring experience preferred, with ability to learn.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to accept and delegate high levels of responsibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, dealing effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • High level of self-discipline and ethics, protecting the company's interests.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and engineering plans.
  • Ability to judge and hold tight specifications.
  • Able to work from sample parts.
  • Identify and select proper type of metals for job.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international material-, drawing-, and tolerance- standards.
  • Commitment to high quality standards.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ('ITAR') and requires access to and handling of ITAR 'Technical Data'.
