Department Overview

The Enterprise Protection, Data, and Analytics (EPD&A) Business Operations (BizOps) team is tasked with the execution of various Programs and Projects related to Security initiatives, including both Physical Security and Cybersecurity. This team is responsible for governance and financial oversight for all EPD&A activities, ensuring alignment with PG&E's strategic objectives. The Cybersecurity Portfolio Management Office (PMO) within the EPD&A team manages Cybersecurity projects and programs, led by the Senior Manager. The Manager of Cybersecurity Project Delivery oversees the project management team and a segment of the cybersecurity portfolio.

Position Summary

The Lead IT Financial Planning Analyst will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting, managing those budgets, conducting operational analysis, and performing strategic planning analysis. This role involves developing key performance indicators for the department. The Planning Analyst role encompasses various functions including planning, research support, data analysis and reporting, resource management, process governance, and budgetary oversight, all aimed at supporting business decision-making and operational strategies. In this capacity, you will contribute to Cybersecurity business processes, assist in formulating a prioritized budget for the Cybersecurity division, and collaborate with financial and data teams to ensure accurate and timely management of operations, budgets, and projects. The Senior Planning Analyst may also engage in continuous process enhancement, quality assurance, special projects, and other initiatives. All team members are expected to perform their duties in alignment with PG&E's vision and values. The Senior Planning Analyst will also oversee project data in Planisware, providing analysis and reporting to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

The work location is flexible, but candidates must reside within the service territory. Initial training may occur in Oakland periodically.

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. Actual salary will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While we estimate that the successful candidate will be placed between the entry point and the midpoint of the range, the final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. This position is also eligible for PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $95,000

Bay Area Maximum: $143,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for utilizing company data to generate insights that will enhance business decisions and operational efficiencies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and precision of new data sources and data collection methods.
  • Create insightful reports that can be disseminated and acted upon by Senior Leadership.
  • Design and develop centralized tools (including dashboards) that can be utilized by delivery and broader teams for automated data extraction and insights for daily business management.
  • Support daily operations and provide general Cybersecurity business and planning assistance.
  • Prepare reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and information; develop presentation materials for management reports.
  • Construct predictive models to better identify anomalies, estimate accruals, and rectify financial discrepancies.
  • Assist in initiating, conducting, and coordinating studies and analyses on Cybersecurity operations, resource allocation, and financial reviews; analyze programs to ensure alignment with program goals and work plans.
  • Maintain annual capital and expense budgets using appropriate accounting and budgeting controls, input financial data into tracking systems, and compile regular and ad-hoc financial status reports.
  • Implement cost allocation programs and address inquiries and concerns from business areas. Review contract invoices, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues with vendors.
  • Act as a resource for project managers to educate and assist with project management processes.
  • Ensure project control systems are established and integrate project data for decision-makers.
  • Provide labor forecasts, project initiatives, demand, and capacity analyses.
  • Collaborate with program/project managers in developing program/project management documentation, business cases, cost planning, reports, work plans, and performance metrics.
  • Document and monitor project issues, risks, and change requests.
  • Record and monitor project action logs and decision logs.
  • Update and analyze project data and performance metrics; prepare and maintain complex presentations and spreadsheets for analysis and recommendations.
  • Research and compile information for project teams.
  • Ensure approvals are in accordance with Delegation of Authority, processes, and tools (i.e., Ariba, Planisware, EDRS).
  • Serve as a resource to project managers to educate and assist with project management processes.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor of Arts / Science in accounting, business, finance, or a related field OR equivalent work experience.
  • 4 years of general business experience.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced understanding of financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of business and financial planning concepts.
  • Experience with budgeting processes.
  • Strong organizational understanding of business operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word; capable of creating pivot tables.
  • Advanced business analysis, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently on small to medium projects within a team or occasionally as a lead.
  • Database knowledge: Oracle, SQL Server.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Project, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Planisware, Ariba, SAP/BPC, and Analysis for Office (AO).
  • Ability to execute, build, and achieve objectives with limited resources.
  • Experience managing large-scale project implementations.
  • Six Sigma, CPSM, or related certification.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating independent judgment and discretion in performing tasks of varying complexity using established procedures and guidelines.
