JOB DESCRIPTION


The Lead Financial Analyst is tasked with executing intricate and demanding accounting responsibilities in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and legal stipulations.

This position will engage in monthly closing procedures and the preparation of both internal and external financial reports to facilitate the financial closing process for the DeltaVision initiative at Delta Dental of California.

Moreover, this role will contribute to and assist with the monthly commission payment cycle activities for DeltaVision, encompassing reconciliation, reporting, and data trend analysis.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and records journal entries including group profit and loss, commission expenditures, and more.

Produces financial statements, regulatory submissions, internal performance documentation, narratives, generates ad hoc reports, verifies data outputs, and supports enterprise reporting inquiries.

Conducts account reconciliations; evaluates variances, including key drivers and trends.
Processes and reports transactions in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
Engages in month-end and year-end closing processes, along with monthly commission cycles.
Participates in special projects within the division and collaborates with cross-functional teams.
Identifies, investigates, and resolves transactions/issues through proactive collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Recognizes opportunities for process enhancement to achieve operational efficiency; facilitates projects as assigned.
Assists with internal and external audit obligations.
Mentors and nurtures the development of other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent; Public Accounting experience preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Exceptional organizational/time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Advanced verbal and written communication capabilities.
Detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with experience in Oracle Financial or ERP software preferred.
Able to effectively coordinate work and communicate across diverse groups of individuals, functions, and levels within the organization.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.

Licenses

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
