Precision Machinist Specialist at TransTech Energy

Role Summary

  • The Precision Machinist Specialist is tasked with fabricating high-quality components for heat exchangers by setting up and operating various manual machining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute boring and turning tasks while accurately interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Perform calculations involving proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volumes as necessary.
  • Verify measurements and permissible tolerances as outlined in engineering drawings or schematics.
  • Utilize overhead cranes and powered lift trucks for material handling.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Essential
  • At least 3 years of experience in manual machining.
  • Proven ability to adhere to established procedures.
  • Proficient in using precision measurement tools, including measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Safe operation of material handling equipment such as overhead cranes and powered lift trucks.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and machinery.
  • Competent in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Adept at identifying and resolving issues promptly.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with heat exchanger technology.
  • Experience with Horizontal Boring Mills.

Work Environment

  • This role is situated in a large fabrication facility characterized by ongoing welding and grinding activities, as well as the operation of multiple rotating machinery components.

Physical Requirements

  • This position necessitates continuous mobility and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Employment Type and Work Schedule

  • This is a full-time role.
  • TransTech Energy operates on three standard shifts: Days (M-TH), Nights (M-TH), and Weekends (F-SU). This position is designated for the Night shift.
  • Flexibility to work alternate shifts in case of staffing shortages is expected.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
