The PRMO is dedicated to optimizing the revenue cycle through improved management of scheduling, registration, coding, health information management, billing, collections, cash handling, and customer service. Position Overview: Duke University Health System - Patient Revenue Management Office (PRMO) is seeking a Service Access Team Leader who embodies our mission of Advancing Health Together.
Role Responsibilities:
The Patient Service Associate Team Lead plays a crucial role within the patient care team in the clinic/service area. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing patient registration processes, ensuring accurate patient identification, demographic updates, and insurance verification.
- Facilitating patient check-in and check-out, including point-of-service collections and managing referrals and appointment scheduling.
- Upholding Duke's values and demonstrating expected behaviors to foster a positive patient experience and work environment.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions and ensuring the registration desk and waiting areas are clean and uphold patient privacy.
Key Duties:
Preparation for Clinic:
- Review patient lists and complete necessary pre-visit preparations.
- Manage clinic work queues and ensure all registration items are addressed prior to patient arrival.
Patient Check-In:
- Verify and update patient information in the system.
- Educate patients on required forms and ensure proper completion.
- Collect payments and provide receipts, directing patients to financial counseling as needed.
Scheduling:
- Accurately schedule tests and procedures according to physician orders.
- Communicate test preparation instructions to patients.
Customer Service:
- Engage with patients and visitors professionally, anticipating their needs and providing timely assistance.
- Address safety concerns promptly and contribute to a positive work culture.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Coordinate clerical activities and assist in planning work schedules.
- Participate in the hiring process and provide feedback on employee performance.
- Conduct training and monitor the progress of new staff members.
Qualifications:
High school diploma is required.
