Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients at Penn State Health. This role involves the meticulous verification of medication dispensing, thorough evaluation of physician orders, and active monitoring of patient drug therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assure the accuracy of drug dispensing and evaluate physician orders.
- Monitor patient drug therapies and communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding pharmacotherapy issues.
- Participate in maintaining adherence to the Medical Center's drug use policies.
- Provide education and information on pharmacotherapy to physicians, nurses, residents, students, and patients.
Qualifications:
- A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree is required.
- Current licensure in Pennsylvania or eligibility for licensure is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and excellent time management abilities are essential.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit occasionally, stand constantly, and walk frequently.
- Capable of lifting weights ranging from 0-35 lbs. as needed.
- Must be able to perform tasks requiring simple and firm grasping.
