SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist is accountable for the thorough assessment and oversight of medication therapies, providing tailored recommendations to enhance therapeutic outcomes for patients in a hospital setting. This role involves delivering educational sessions on pharmacotherapy to healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, as well as mentoring pharmacy students and residents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate in Pharmacy is mandatory.
  • Completion of an ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy residency or a minimum of three years of pertinent clinical pharmacy experience is essential.
  • Possession of a valid PA pharmacist license or eligibility is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in prioritizing and organizing daily tasks to address patient care requirements.
  • Strong verbal communication, time management, and multitasking abilities are necessary.
  • Capability to analyze clinical data and perform necessary calculations.
  • Competence in computer usage and Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • In-depth understanding of pharmacotherapy is essential.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and critical thinking skills are crucial.
  • Effective mentoring and teaching skills are required.
