Electrical Project Engineer - Entry Level

Spees Design-Build (SDB) is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer - Entry Level to become a part of our innovative team.
SDB is a design-build organization that excels in delivering architectural, engineering, and project management consulting services. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we pride ourselves on our collaborative work environment, tackling exciting projects across various sectors including healthcare and commercial design.

The Electrical Project Engineer will contribute to the dynamic A/E Design team within SDB's Design-Bid-Build operations. This role primarily focuses on the design of diverse project types within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center systems across the western United States. The position involves collaboration with other design discipline staff and provides support to senior Electrical Engineers on various design assignments.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required; a focus on power systems is preferred.
  • 0-2 years of engineering design experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred.
  • Understanding of building and electrical codes and standards.
  • Potential for management roles.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams.
  • Capacity to work independently and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks.
  • Motivated and eager to learn.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Filipino (Tagalog) is preferred.
  • Experience with federal projects is a plus.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical-engineered construction drawings and specifications for various projects, including healthcare, education, data centers, and mission-critical facilities.
  • Design and specify various electrical systems, including MV and LV power systems, standby power and UPS systems, lighting and control systems, telecommunications, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, and lightning protection.
  • Assist with electrical engineering feasibility studies.
  • Perform essential electrical engineering calculations.
  • Engage in fundamental project management tasks.
  • Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders to guarantee project success.
  • Understand the scope of work thoroughly.
  • Contribute to delivering projects that meet client expectations.
  • Exhibit strong client-facing and relationship management skills along with effective written and verbal communication.
  • Utilize MS Office software and Bluebeam proficiently.
  • Participate in industry-related activities and organizations to foster peer relationships and technical growth.
Essential Functions:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional travel for field investigations and construction inspections.
