Role Overview

The selected candidate will engage in the development and execution of projects aimed at rehabilitating existing facilities, particularly focusing on a key hydroelectric plant. During the commissioning phase, this role will be site-based. When not engaged in commissioning activities, the position will operate in a hybrid model. As part of the engineering team, the candidate will oversee unit instrumentation, electrical systems, and auxiliary systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing technical specifications to identify design requirements and conceptualizing solutions.
  • Supervising design teams and contributing to the creation of engineering documents such as diagrams, lists, and specifications, ensuring compliance with technical standards.
  • Coordinating with engineering teams, suppliers, and clients for effective system integration.
  • Producing technical specifications for electrical equipment and reviewing related drawings.
  • Executing engineering instructions for inspections and work at the facility.
  • Monitoring project budgets and schedules in collaboration with project teams.
  • Organizing and participating in design review sessions.
  • Reviewing and approving technical documentation generated under supervision.
  • Contributing to the development of design tools and standards.
  • Assisting in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Preparing technical documentation for submissions.
  • Reviewing vendor documentation for compliance with specifications.
  • Resolving technical issues during the assembly phase.
  • Leading on-site commissioning activities, coordinating meetings, updating schedules, and ensuring effective communication between clients and engineers.
  • Enhancing quality and excellence in installation and commissioning processes.
  • Reviewing designs to suggest improvements that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Providing technical support and mentorship to enhance the team's capabilities.
  • Supporting project execution teams with installation and commissioning tasks.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
  • Experience in turbine-generator instrumentation or related fields is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control system design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of hydroelectric or power generation sectors is beneficial.
  • Understanding of hydraulic power and control systems is an asset.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve technical challenges and design effective solutions.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical is desirable.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
